- Students have until October 15th to submit applications and our judging panel made up of campus partners is excited to review them!
- There are 9 award categories
1. Bettie Ann Everett Award for Most Community Service
2. Fraternity & Sorority Chapters of the Year
3. Leading with Values Award
4. Most Campus Involvement Award
5. Outstanding Advisor Award
6. Excellence in Educational Programming
7. Fraternity & Sorority Life President of the Year
8. Unsung Fraternity & Sorority Life Leader
9. Outstanding Fraternity & Sorority Life Leader
- Other recognition opportunities for both students and campus partners will also be presented during the ceremony as FSL staff wants to show their gratitude to community members.
- Judging of the 9 major awards will be done by a panel of volunteers from across the Division of Student Affairs.
(NPHC) Legacy Plaza Update
The unveiling of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Legacy Plaza, located at SASB, honoring the “Devine Nine” historically black fraternities and sororities that comprise the NPHC, has been delayed until the spring semester. A specific date has not yet been determined.
My Culture is Not Your Costume
The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is partnering with the Office of Student Life and Leadership to present a “My Culture is Not Your Costume” events on October 18-22. There will be in-person and virtual events. All in-person events will take place in or around the Carolina Union. The week of activities will conclude on Friday, October 22 with a costume contest in The Gift.
Fraternity and Sorority Life Speaker/Workshop Series
- October 6 – Mapping Your Values workshop facilitated by SLL for emerging FSL leaders.
- October 18 – Christina Parle from Social Responsibility Speaks will be giving a presentation on diversity and inclusion.
- October 20 – FSL will be facilitating a workshop related to intellectual wellness
- October 25 – All chapter and council presidents’ meetings. Leaders Will be participating in some leadership development as it pertains to the intellectual dimension of wellness.
- November 3 – Student Wellness will be giving a brief presentation and facilitating an activity centered on the intellectual dimension of wellness.
- November 17 – The Learning Center will be facilitating their Study Smarter Not Harder during FSL’s Slump n Sleep event.
- November 22 – All chapter and council presidents’ meetings. Leaders will be participating in some leadership development as it pertains to the intellectual dimension of wellness.

Client Appreciation Day
The Carolina Union Client Appreciation Committee will present a Client Appreciation Day on Friday, October 29 in the West Lounge from 10am – 2pm. The event is designed to show gratitude to all those persons that make the Carolina Union a part of their journey as a Tar Heel.
Winter/Holiday Greeting Card Contest
As the winter/holiday season is approaching, the Carolina Union is inviting all student staff to participate in a winter/holiday greeting card contest. The winning student’s card will serve as the annual greeting card of the Carolina Union sent out by the Executive Director, and will have a large print version of the design displayed in the Union.
