Guest Services with the Assist
The Dean E. Smith Center, home of Carolina Men’s Basketball, is known for its on-court assists. It is where Carolina greats Ed Cota got many of his 1030 career assists, and Kendall Marshall got many of his 351 assists in a single season, and where Raymond Felton got a single-game record of 18 assists. On Sunday, December 12, 2021, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduated approximately 550 students during the winter commencement ceremony, and the Carolina Union Guest Services team was the one on Roy Williams Court providing the game-winning assist. The starting five for the Guest Services team were Spencer Robinson, Cat Olah, Jasmine Copeland, Morgan Hyman, and Abigail Whittle. Assistant and Head Guest Services coaches, Brianna Barlow and Bonita Brown, respectively, were hard at work as well. The Guest Services team has an immeasurable amount of talent and provides an invaluable assist to the University Events Office. Shout out to the team for a very successful event.
*In basketball, an assist is attributed to a player who passes the ball to a teammate in a way that leads to a score by field goal, meaning that they were “assisting” in the basket.
